About Louise Barr
DIP. PSY. C Registered MNCS (Accred.)
I am a fully qualified Integrative counsellor & a registered member of the National Counselling Society. My aim within my work is to listen, support & help my clients to reach more of their potential by increasing their levels of self awareness of their feelings, thoughts & behaviours. With compassion, patience, empathy & a non-judgmental approach, I provide a warm & safe space for my clients. It is my hope, & my reason for becoming a counsellor, that from the seeds that are sown in the therapeutic work, grow hope, self-love & self development & that the effects ripple on for my clients throughout their life journey.

The Counsellor's Cabin is home to integrative, face to face therapy. In addition to this, I offer adaptions to the service, depending on the specific client requirements.  Below are some options available in addition, or as an alternative, to traditional face to face therapy.

Walk & Talk Therapy
You may find the idea of sitting in an enclosed space with a therapist overwhelming or perhaps physical activity improves your mood & encourages deeper thoughts to emerge. Maybe, you simply like to enjoy the great outdoors when the sun is out! For any of the above reasons, you may prefer to opt for walk & talk therapy. I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by beautiful & peaceful countryside & I have a wonderful private & flat route that we can take, weather permitting!

Meditation

Meditation can be helpful by allowing the mind the opportunity to enter deep relaxation & peace, away from the jumbled thoughts & overcrowded mind space. It can be a great help in particular with sufferers of stress & anxiety & simply for those wishing to experience mindfulness. I can incorporate guided meditation into our sessions for those who feel it may benefit them or simply wish to try. My therapy room is comfortable & peaceful, making it a perfect spot for meditation.

Online & Telephone Counselling
During lockdown in 2020, I trained in online counselling to be able to offer this to clients in times when face to face counselling was not available. This has continued to be popular & therefore I am still offering virtual counselling sessions via Zoom for those preferring this option. Telephone sessions are also available.
